Vue Entertainment, United Kingdom, November 2014

It is no mean feat to be consistently ranked as one of the top multiplex operators in the United Kingdom. Competition is fierce, matched only by the constant drive for smarter technology to capture, retain, and build sales.

Helped by its ongoing partnership with Vista, Vue Entertainment boasts the second-largest UK market share for box office revenue, attracting over 37 million customers annually.

The opening scene is set in 2003, when Vue acquired 36 cinemas from Warner Village, and another seven cinemas in early 2005 from Ster Century. One of Vue’s first challenges was to decide upon a cinema management solution to establish throughout its chain.

Vista Cinema was selected by Vue as the best system to roll out across its cinemas. It combined the basis necessary for the chain’s planned growth, with the flexibility to be customised to suit specific requirements.

The comprehensive range of additional Vista cinema products was seen as an asset by Vue management. The ability to integrate Film Programming completely with Vista’s Head Office and Vista Cinema provided seamless, real-time management for Vue’s planning and operations.

By August 2007 Vue and Vista had achieved the seven-month rollout. Vue have never looked back.

The introduction of one integrated state-of-the-art operating system across the circuit has given us a tremendous advantage over all our competitors.

Steve Knibbs, Chief Operating Officer, Vue Entertainment

Through the use of Vista, Vue have created a more attractive cinema environment and offer enhanced service levels. Vue have grown their customer base and continue to make their cinema guests feel like stars. Vista’s POS (Point of Sale) enables the company to convert to a single point of sale workstation for both concessions and box office, making it more convenient for customers, while increasing revenues and reducing the costs of service delivery.

By offering a ‘Ticket at any Till’ option … the service levels we can offer our guests have improved beyond recognition. This in turn has led to improved transaction rates at the concessions stand which is helping to improve spend per head … a win-win situation for guests, cinema teams and the company.

Steve Knibbs, Chief Operating Officer, Vue Entertainment

Vue recognised that the best way to develop their business was to take full advantage of the Vista operating system’s many benefits. They have purchased additional Vista products such as Vista’s Kiosk and Call Centre, providing customers with additional ticket purchasing methods. CashDesk and Head Office allow Vue to further streamline their business processes and make their cinema chain one of the most technologically advanced in the UK market.

Vista Web is the main sales site for Vue’s ticketing, proudly displaying Vue’s unique branding style. It is built to withstand huge transaction demand (sometimes accounting for up to 100 per cent of remote bookings), cater for last-minute blockbuster releases, and update film and pricing details immediately.

With the adoption of Vista’s Vouchers and Gift Cards, Vue can look forward to further developing meaningful, long-term relationships with their business partners, strengthening their brand interactions.
